EA Dependency Scanner

The EA Scanner maps every Extension Attribute across all 9 Jamf object types, so you know exactly what references what before you touch anything.

What It Scans

Nexus checks every EA against all of the following object types in parallel:

  • Computer Smart Groups
  • Mobile Device Smart Groups
  • Policies
  • Configuration Profiles
  • Patch Titles
  • Advanced Computer Searches
  • Advanced Mobile Device Searches
  • Restricted Software
  • macOS App Installers

How to Run a Scan

  1. Click Scan Now from the toolbar or Dashboard
  2. Nexus fetches all EAs and their references in parallel
  3. Results appear within seconds for most environments

Reading Results

Each EA row in the results table shows:

  • Name: The EA display name from Jamf Pro
  • Dependency count: How many objects reference this EA
  • Status: Safe, Orphaned, or In Use
  • Direct link: Opens the EA directly in Jamf Pro
StatusMeaningAction
SafeEA has valid referencesNo action needed
Orphaned0 dependencies foundRun Blast Radius, then delete
In UseActively usedDo not delete

What “Orphaned” Means

An EA with 0 dependencies is referenced by nothing in your Jamf instance. It is a candidate for deletion — but always run a Blast Radius check first to confirm no hidden references exist.

Scan History & Delta

Nexus saves each scan result locally. On the next scan, it computes a delta — showing which EAs were added, removed, or changed since last time. This makes it easy to track the impact of cleanup operations over time.
