How to Use Fleet Commander
- Navigate to the Fleet tab, or press
Cmd+F - Search for devices by name, serial number, or username
- Select one or more devices using the checkboxes
- Choose a command from the command picker
- Click Send Command
Warning: The Erase Device command performs a full wipe and cannot be undone. Nexus will prompt for confirmation before sending this command.
Timeout Behavior
Fleet Commander has a built-in 60-second timeout per job. If a command has not completed within 60 seconds, affected devices are marked as Failed. The job completion timestamp is shown in the results bar. Failed devices can be retried individually.
Results Bar
After a command job completes, the results bar shows:
- Total devices targeted
- Success count
- Failed count
- Completion timestamp
- Clear button to reset the results and start a new job
Permissions Required
Fleet Commander requires MDM command permissions in your Jamf API role. Erase commands require additional confirmation and may need elevated API permissions depending on your Jamf Pro configuration.
